overview

Rhinebeck Savings Bank is one of the oldest savings banks in New York State, serving Dutchess County and its outlying areas. Since our incorporation in 1860, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has first and foremost been a community bank, serving local neighborhoods. We're proud to be large enough to meet the diverse needs of our customers while still remaining small enough to deliver a personal touch in everything we do.

We feature products and services - for both consumers and businesses - which are designed to provide customers with competitive rates and flexible terms. Local decision-making by our team of experienced banking professionals allows us to be responsive, flexible, and accessible to our customers. Our unwavering dedication to providing superior service sets us apart from other financial institutions, and is the reason why generations of loyal customers have trusted us to meet their banking needs.

Additionally, we understand both the opportunities and challenges of doing business in this region. Our commercial product solutions include: construction loans, commercial mortgages, term loans, letters of credit and time notes, which enable our clients to remain competitive and grow. One aspect that sets us apart is our ability to make more personalized decisions based on a broader range of criteria. We pride ourselves on our track record for delivering long-term lending solutions primarily to small and medium sized businesses as well as not-for-profit organizations.

At Rhinebeck Savings Bank, we wholeheartedly support and participate in numerous local associations such as chambers of commerce, economic development groups, housing, health, human service agencies and arts organizations, in addition to the United Way. We also dedicate time to participate in charitable fundraisers throughout the Hudson Valley with support not only coming through monetary gifts, but more importantly through the countless hours of volunteerism from our Employees.

We are headquartered in Poughkeepsie, and have branches in Rhinebeck, Red Hook, Hyde Park, uptown Kingston, three in Poughkeepsie and Route 52 East Fishkill.  We also plan to open another full service location in the Fishkill / Beacon area in 2009.

history

proud past...

Rhinebeck Savings Bank was incorporated on April 12, 1860.  Just one year later the Civil War broke out which drove many businesses under, but Rhinebeck Savings Bank remained solid.  With dedication and commitment, the Bank grew continuing to meet the needs of customers and businesses.

On September 8, 1883, land was purchased at 14 Montgomery Street for $2,000, and a one-story stone and brick building was completed in 1885.  This location remained our headquarters until 2001.

In 1937, the original Rhinebeck Branch was enlarged to include the addition of a board room and offices for the President and Treasurer.  The Bank expanded yet again in 1953 by extending 35 feet at the rear of the building to accommodate our growing staff.

By the 1970's the Village of Rhinebeck was struggling economically. Rhinebeck Savings Bank showed commitment to the community by building the Rhinebeck Savings Bank Village Plaza.  This project helped revitalize the economy and restore a sense of community to Rhinebeck.

Over the years, our branch footprint expanded to better serve our ever-growing customer base.  Listed are some of the significant milestones throughout the years.

  • 1974 - Opened a new Branch in Millerton, NY
  • 1980 - Hyde Park Branch opened
  • 1994 - Millerton Branch sold and proceeds used to expand the Hyde Park Branch by adding a drive up teller window and ATM
  • 1995 - Red Hook Branch opened
  • 1999 - South Road Branch opened
  • 2000 - Arlington and Mid-Hudson Center Branches opened
  • 2001 - Headquarters moved to 2 Jefferson Plaza, Poughkeepsie
  • 2003 - Rhinebeck Branch Renovation Project completed
  • 2004 - Rhinebeck Savings Bank became a holding company, retaining 100% ownership of the shares
  • 2006 - Kingston Branch opened
  • 2007 - East Fishkill Branch opened
  • 2009 - New branch planned for the Fishkill/Beacon area

focused future...

Since 1860, Rhinebeck Savings Bank has always been deeply rooted in our communities.  Our belief in relationship focused banking - growing relationships through one-on-one interactions - has been the mainstay of our customer commitment.

Our Bank has accomplished great success during past years thanks to you - our customers, employees and the communities we are proud to serve.  We look forward to the future, as the Bank continues to expand its products, services and locations in Dutchess and surrounding counties.  We have a great foundation as an independent community bank - a foundation we intend to build upon for years to come.
