Rhinebeck Savings Bank Donates $3,000
to The Marathon Project

July 2010:  As part of their commitment to give back to the community, Rhinebeck Savings Bank recently donated $3,000 to The Marathon Project, sponsored by Council on Addiction Prevention and Education (CAPE) of Dutchess County. As the ‘Marathon Sponsor,’ Rhinebeck Savings has provided the organization the resources needed to purchase 75 pairs of quality running sneakers for the children participating in the program.

"Agencies like the Council rely heavily on the support and generosity of the business community. Rhinebeck Savings Bank has been a critical piece of the Marathon Project and a key partner in the prevention efforts that serve our Dutchess County Community" says Elaine Trumpetto, Executive Director, CAPE.

The Marathon Project is a running program, pairing adult mentors and at-risk youth for an after-school training program aimed to reduce childhood obesity, gang involvement, school drop-out and substance abuse. The Council on Addiction Prevention and Education provides and promotes prevention education services for the citizens of Dutchess County and neighboring areas so they can make healthy and responsible choices to improve individual and community quality of life.

Rhinebeck Savings Remains Food Banks Transportation Sponsor

June 2010:  Rhinebeck Savings Bank recently renewed their $5,000 sponsorship with the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley as their transportation sponsor.  This donation will help defray the costs associated with using the organizations vehicles to pick up food donations and deliver the food.

“The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley is thankful for Rhinebeck Savings Bank’s support, especially during these difficult economic times,” says Antonetta C. Gutter, Director of Development for the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley.  “They are to be commended for their community-minded efforts.”

The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley collects large donations of food through its partnership with the food industry and distributes it to over 360 local charitable agencies feeding hungry people in Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Rockland, Sullivan and Putnam counties.  Last year alone, they distributed 9 million pounds of food.  To find out how you can help, contact Antonetta C.
